Last Thursday, 198 students from Winona Secondary School were treated to lunch at Pizza Inn. The treat was a reward for WSS students who showed growth on last May’s state tests. According to Principal Charlie Parkerson, of the 240 students taking the tests, 198 of them showed growth. The pizza party was just the first of many rewards planned for students this year. Parkerson said based on test scores, students were placed in the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum categories, with rewards based on the group. “We want to give a huge thanks to Vince Saia and the staff at Pizza Inn,” Parkerson said. Parkerson said next nine weeks, he plans to take students in the Platinum, Gold, and Silver categories to a movie.
