Winona Police Department officers received training in using the new E-Citation system recently purchased by the City of Winona. Lt. Calvin Mangum with the Mississippi Highway Patrol trained Winona officers at the Med-Stat training facility on October 11, 2017, on how to use the equipment. The Winona Board of Aldermen approved the purchase of the E-Citation equipment for several reasons.
E-Citation is an easier way of keeping up with stats, cuts down on time of traffic stops when officers are issuing citations, and because eventually, the State of Mississippi will quit accepting the standard tickets that have been used for years. Chief of Police Tommy Bibbs and Chief Investigator Dan Herod both thanked Mayor Jerry Flowers and the Winona Board of Aldermen for their ongoing support of the police department and their dedication to the safety of its officers.
“This is another way the mayor and aldermen have demonstrated that they are doing everything they can to make sure the police department has the resources it needs to operate in an efficient manner,” said Bibbs.
