A Washington County man was returned to Winona to face charges in connection with a stolen excavator.
Kevin Jerome Tharp, 43, of Hollandale was arrested Friday and charged with grand larceny and false pretense in connection with the theft of a Kabota excavator from Winona Tractor in Winona.
According to Captain Dan Herod, the false pretense came from the man allegedly giving an invalid form of payment for the excavator. He said the investigation led police to charge Tharp.
“He was arrested Friday morning in Washington County by his probation officer,” Herod said. “The probation officer served the warrants. [Chief Tommy Bibbs] and I went to pick him up.”
Herod said bond was set at $250,000, $200,000 for the grand larceny and $50,000 for the false pretense. He is currently being held in the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden.
