A probable cause hearing was held in a case against a Carroll County man before Judge George Mitchell in Winona on Monday.
Tervonte Alexander is facing grand larceny charges in Carroll County.
Carroll County Deputy Banks Tucker testified at the hearing.
According to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker, the charges stem from several stolen vehicles in the county. He said the stolen vehicles were non-operational and were then sold for scrap over the last few months.
Mitchell ruled that there was probable cause to bind him over to the action of a grand jury. He also set no bond because Alexander was currently out on bond for a charge of capital murder when he allegedly committed the grand larceny.
Alexander is charged with capital murder for the November 14, 2018, death of Sawyer Jerrell Holston, nine months.
According to the indictment, Alexander is charged with capital murder because the death of Holston occurred while “engaged in the commission of the crime of Felony Child Abuse and/or Battery of a Child.”
Alexander is also facing a possible death penalty if convicted, according to Mississippi law.
According to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker, Alexander was originally charged with murder, but that charge was upgraded shortly after his arrest to capital murder when he was officially charged with felony child abuse.
