Plans are underway for the second annual Winona Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat on Halloween night in downtown Winona.
Organizer Calbrina Woods said the event is back by popular demand and will be held on Thursday, October 31, from 5 until 8 p.m. on Front Street. Trunk or Treat will be lined up along Summit Street and will begin at 7 p.m.
Woods said like last year, the event will be free to the public, with local businesses and organizations setting up games and booths along Front Street and giving away prizes and food to guests.
“Vendors set up free of charge as well,” Woods said. “However, nothing can be purchased [from a booth].”
Woods said in addition to various booths, there will be bounce houses for the kids, free sno cones, free hot dogs, free cotton candy, and free hot chocolate available at the event. She said it is a great event for the entire family.
Woods encourages churches, clubs, and other organizations to set up booths as well as local businesses, and she encourages local citizens to open a trunk and give away candy to the trunk-or-treaters.

Also this year, Modern Woodman of America will sponsor the annual scarecrow decorating contest. There will be three divisions – residential, business, and organization. Judging will be on October 25, but participants are encouraged to build their scarecrow earlier so the town can enjoy the fall decorations. Winners will receive a plaque, and winning scarecrows will be featured in The Winona Times.
