JZG archery wins four team shoot

The J.Z. George archery team finished off its second week of competition with a shoot at Cleveland Central High School last Thursday.

The Jaguars had a team total of 3,056 points. Cleveland shot but did not have the required 12 shooters to finish with a team score.

Lady Tigers open season with 16-0 win

The Winona High School girls fast-pitch softball team opened its season on Feb. 10 with a 16-0 win over J.Z. George High School in North Carrollton.

The Lady Tigers scored six runs in the first, three in the second and seven in the third as they outhit J.Z. George 13-2 and took advantage of four errors.

CA defeats Calhoun 8-4

Carroll Academy only got in one game last week and came away with a victory.

The Rebels took an 8-4 win over Calhoun Academy last week and moved to 2-1 on the season.

WCS drops opener to North Delta

Winona Christian kicked off the baseball season last week but got off to a slow start.

The Stars lost 12-0 to North Delta on Friday in a run-rule loss.

Winona is scheduled to play at French Camp on Tuesday and then host North Delta on Thursday. They will then finish out the week and play at Pillow on Friday.
