I had the opportunity to share one of my favorite scriptures with a small group at church recently.
This scripture is Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Coincidentally, my devotional reading this morning was from this passage of scripture as well. This passage of scripture resonates in my heart for one reason in particular - Jesus never changes. Life is ever changing in so many different aspects. People change. Attitudes change. Viewpoints change. Feelings change. Relationships change. The list is endless. Yet, we can rest assured that Jesus never changes.
As part of the Holy Trinity (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), Jesus the Son came in human form and faced some of the same temptations that we face daily. Yet, he did not sin. He remained unchanged by the pressures and circumstances surrounding Him.
Malachi 3:6 reminds us of what God Himself said, “For I am the LORD, I change not….”
He is immutable. That assurance alone should solidify our relationship with Him. We can put our faith and hope in someone who loves us so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ and He gives us the promise of everlasting life if we believe in Him, (John 3:16). If you are looking for someone who does not change and loves unconditionally, I recommend Jesus to you.
