The Nation's Weather for Friday, August 4, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Severe thunderstorms are expected in the Northeast tomorrow,
with damaging wind gusts, hail and the risk for flash
flooding from Vermont and New Hampshire southward into the
Hudson Valley and perhaps northern New Jersey. Elsewhere,
yet another day of thunderstorms traveling along the
periphery of an area of strong high pressure in the South
will worsen flooding concerns from the Midwest into parts of
the interior Southeast as some areas face intense rainfall
rates. Heavy rainfall could also lead to difficult travel
and localized flash flooding for parts of the Intermountain
West as a slow-moving disturbance ensures a persistent
stormy pattern. A break in monsoon thunderstorms will result
in a largely dry Southwest, with mainly dry conditions also
expected for the West Coast and Great Lakes regions.
