Charlotte “Charlie” Woods is headed to the National 4-H Shooting Sports Competition at Grande Isle Nebraska. She will represent Mississippi in the 10-meter Air Rifle Division.
Charlie has been competing in 4-H Shooting Sports for several years, perfecting her aim. To get to Nebraska, she competed at the 2023 District 4-H Shooting Sports event in Charleston, against 32 other individuals from various counties around the Delta Region. After district competition, she traveled to Pearl to compete in the 10-meter State Invitational against 11 individuals from around the state. The top six individuals were selected to compete in the 10-meter national event June 23 -28.
The National 4-H Shooting Sports competition is a three day event with competitors in Air Pistol, Air Rifle, Small Bore Pistol, Small Bore Rifle, Compound Archery, Recurve Archery, Muzzleloading, Shotgun, and Hunting Skills. In 2023, there were 11 different states and close to 100 individuals competing in Air Rifle. This year, one of Carroll County’s very own gets to showcase her skills amongst top shooters from around the U.S. Charlie will be joined by around 30 other Mississippi Youth competing in their qualified disciplines. She will join with the other air rifle qualifiers to compete as a team as well as individually.
