This week I got a haircut. I came home from school and told my mom my hair is heavy, and could she do anything about it, so she got out her scissors and texturizers and went to work. The change was very big and could be seen by everybody.
The next day at school when people stopped and said, “Ms. Faulk you look different, Ms. Faulk did you get a haircut?” I said yes, I did. My mama cut it for me. I had nothing to do with my hair looking different other than asking her to cut it, she did the changing and the work.
The bible talks about this and tells us that we should shine our lights bright so that others will see a change and a difference in us, and then we can point them to our Savior. (Matt. 5:16)
Sometimes when we do things that are good or we make decisions or changes in our life that people notice, they will come up and say something about it to us. We may want to take all the credit, but it’s not us. Our light comes from Jesus. The good works that are in us comes from Jesus, and when we can tell people, “Thank you, but it is all Jesus,” we are able to point others to Him, the one where true good works and change comes.
So this week, whatever is new or changed about you, or maybe you are just really shining bright, make sure to use it to point to Jesus. Remember Ms. Faulk loves you, but Jesus loves you more.
