Y’all guess what? We are in the month of APRIL!!!! I am getting excited about good weather, baseball, and summer coming up and I hope you are too. There are a lot of things in April that can make one excited, but one of the reasons I love April is because it is Autism Awareness Month.
Now this month and this disability is very important to me because it is important to the families and students that I serve every day. Today, in 2025, autism impacts 1 out of 36 children, so there is a pretty big chance that you know of or love someone with autism. One of the things I have learned in 13 years is that every person I meet with autism, be it child or adult, are unique, special, incredible, talented, and their own person. They may deal with different challenges, but they have an incredible purpose in this thing we call life.
When I think about this, I think about the scripture in 1 Corinthians where Paul says that we are all a part of God’s body we just make up different parts. If we were all heads, or if we were all big toe, how much work and change could we really do? Every single person breathing in air is gifted with a purpose that the Lord can use. Our job is to help, teach, advocate, encourage, and bring them in so that we all can reach our full potential.
So not just this week, but this month, think of people you know who have autism and think about the things that they are good at or have been blessed with and tell the Lord thank you for putting that person in your life and look for ways that you can help them or encourage them.
Remember Ms. Faulk loves you, but Jesus loves you more.
