The Carroll Academy Lady Rebels split a pair of games on the softball field this past week.
The Lady Rebels hammered Oak Hill on Monday, taking a 21-4 win over the Lady Rebels. The Lady Rebels then dropped an 8-2 loss to Indianola on Tuesday to finish the week.
Carroll, now 6-7 on the year, is set to return to action this week as they host Winona Christian in a key district contest and will then play at Central Holmes on Tuesday.
Carroll 21, Oak Hill 4
The Lady Rebels scored 16 runs in the third inning and took a three-inning, run-rule win over the Lady Raiders on Monday.
After a scoreless first inning, Carroll scored five runs in the second and 16 in the third to take the win.
Carroll had 13 hits and took advantage of 12 walks in the contest.
Kaitlyn Chamblee was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and four RBIs. Bella Carter was 2-for-2 with two walks, two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs. Helen Claire Cobb was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Presley Woods was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Alana Garrett was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Meri Brynn Reeves doubled, scored three runs and had three RBIs. Peyton Perry and Kaylee Ferguson each walked twice and scored two runs apiece while May Braxton Cobb walked twice, had two RBIs and scored three runs.
Peyton Perry pitched all three innings and gave up four runs on three hits to pick up the win.
Indianola Academy 8, Carroll 2
The Lady Colonels used a five-run third inning to take a six-run win in district play on Tuesday.
Carroll scored one in the first to take an early lead before Indianola exploded with five in the third. Indianola added two in the fifth and one in the seventh for their final runs. Carroll added its final run in the bottom of the seventh.
Carroll had seven hits in the contest as Meri Brynn Reeves was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases while Helen Claire Cobb was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Bella Carter tripled and had an RBI while Kaitlyn Chamblee and Presley Woods each singled for the Lady Rebels.
Peyton Perry pitched all seven innings and gave up 10 hits and struck out six in the loss.
