My morning is starting with a happy heart, as I enjoy my favorite cereal, Cheerios. Advertising is big business now, as always, and the cover of this box attests to this. The yellow box has this wording, “Cheerios make my heart happy.” Good mornings start with happy hearts! The cereal is heart shaped! There are other “good for you” cereals, and this one is my breakfast for a few days. Too bad there is no prize in the box, the prize we, as kids, looked for.
What is the month of May famous for? Mother's Day, May 11, and the federal holiday, Memorial Day, May 26 ,and National Armed Forces Day on May 17. As a young girl, I thought of what the summer would bring! No homework, no real schedule, simply enjoying the time away from school and time with my sister and parents as we depart on vacation. Simple days-happy days.
May brings special thoughts to me on the subject of graduation, as we think back to our special night and the treasured memories of our children receiving their diplomas. It is a highlight of our school days! Maybe that is the reason we return to our hometown, for class reunions, as the class of '63 did a few weeks ago. Our crowd was smaller, but we all said another one was in our future. Time marches on, we change, but we all benefit from a few hours of visiting with old school friends. The usual remarks are passed around, we enjoy good food, and we give our departing friends a memorable hug and wave, as we make our way to cars, and wave once more before departing.

A little humor: “I've led a full life and have only a few regrets, said grandma, notably that microwave ovens and gourmet frozen foods didn't come along a lot sooner."
