The Winona Tigers finished off their clean sweep of Division 3-3A play with a pair of wins to finish out the regular season.
The Tigers took two double-digit wins last week as they beat Ruleville Central 53-37 and Amanda Elzy 70-50.
The Tigers are off this week because Division 3-3A is not holding a division tournament but using the regular-season results will stand for seeding in the Class 3A tournament that starts next week. The Tigers will host a first-round game on Tuesday.
Winona boys 53, Ruleville 37
The Tigers overcame a slow start and dominated the middle two periods to take a 16-point win over Ruleville.
Ruleville led 8-6 at the end of the first period before Winona took the second period 11-2 to lead 17-10 at the half. The Tigers got rolling in the third period as they outscored Ruleville 21-10 to lead 38-20 going to the fourth. Ruleville outscored Winona 17-15 in the fourth for the final margin.
Taiwan Small led Winona with 18 points while Dadarion Small had 11 points. Damariya Mister and Sean Merritt each had nine points apiece for the Tigers.
Winona boys 70, Amanda Elzy 50
The Tigers dominated the first half and cruised to a 20-point win over Amanda Elzy last week.
Winona started fast as they outscored Amanda Elzy 21-9 in the first and 19-7 in the second to lead 40-16 at the half. Winona outscored Amanda 14-11 in the third as they led 54-27 going to the fourth. Amanda Elzy took the fourth period 23-16 for the final margin.
Clifford Lee led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points while Dadarion Small and Damariya Mister each had 12 points apiece. Kedarius Topps had nine points while Ty Clark had eight and Taiwan Small chipped in five points.
