The Carroll Academy baseball team picked up four more wins last week with a pair of doubleheader sweeps.
The Rebels swept Briarfield 20-4 and 14-4 on Monday and then took two from Benton Academy, winning 16-4 and 14-2.
The Rebels will now begin division play as they travel to Winona on Monday and host Central Holmes on Tuesday. The Rebels will finish the week as they travel to Indianola on Friday.
Carroll 16, Benton 4
The Rebels scored 11 runs in the last two innings and took a five-inning win over the Raiders in the second game of the doubleheader on Tuesday.
Carroll led 3-1 after the first inning and each team scored two runs in the third inning as the Rebels led 5-3. But the Rebels blew the game open in the fourth with seven runs and finished off with four win the fifth.
Carroll had 10 hits in the contest and drew eight walks. William Panni was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBIs while Lofton Holly was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and four runs scored. Braxton York was also 2-for-2 with two walks and four runs scored while Hunter Grantham and Maddox Carpenter each had two RBIs and scored two runs.
Holly started on the mound and pitched four innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five. Brennan Blaylock pitched one inning and gave up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out two.
Carroll 14, Benton 2
The Rebels scored in the last six innings and took a 12-run win over the Raiders in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Each team scored one run in the second and Carroll followed with three in the third, two in the second and four in the fifth to lead 10-2. Carrol added one in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Carroll outhit Benton13-9 in the contest. Braxton York was 3-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs scored and three RBIs. Reed Blaylock was also 3-for-3 while Maddox Carpenter was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Hunter Grantham doubled while William Panni and Reed Thomas each scored two runs.
The Rebels had 14 stolen bases in the contest as Panni stole four bases. Reid and Brennan Blaylock both had two stolen bases while York had two steals.
Braxton York started and pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out five. Brennan Blaylock pitched the last 1 1/3 innings and gave up just two hits and struck out two.
Carroll 20, Briarfield 4
The Rebels banged out 20 hits and took the 16-run win in three innings.
Briarfield scored three in the top of the first before Carroll scored 12 in the bottom of the frame. The Rebels added two in the second and six in the third.
Lofton Holly was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs while Braxton York was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Hunter Grantham was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs while Tyler Brooks was 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Maddox Carpenter was 2-for-3 with three runs scored while Reid Blaylock was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Brennan Blaylock walked twice and scored three runs while Drew Thomas singled and had three RBIs.
Carroll had 13 stolen bases as Carpenter, Holly and York each had three steals apiece while Brennan Blaylock and Brooks each had two steals apiece.
Carpenter started and pitched three innings, giving up four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three.
Carroll 14, Briarfield 4
The Rebels used a pair of five run innings to take a 10-run win Briarfield on Monday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Carroll scored five in the first and two in the second and led 7-3 after three innings. Carroll added two in the fifth and five in the sixth.
Carroll had nine hits as Tyler Brooks was 2-for-2 with two doubles. Maddox Carpenter was 2-for-3 while William Panni had a grand0slam home run in the first inning. Lofton Holly tripled and drove in two runs while Brennan Blaylock walked twice and scored twice. Hunter Grantham also walked twice.
Drew Thomas pitched the first two innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while Hunter Grantham pitched the final four innings, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out one.
