Winona High School’s girls volleyball team went 2-1 in its last three matches to improve to 6-5 overall.
The Lady Tigers knocked off Amanda Elzy 3-0 on Sept. 7 as they won the sets 25-11, 25-15 and 25-20.
“We played several of our junior varsity girls in the third set to get them some experience,” said WHS head coach Gunner Nichols.
On Sept. 9, Winona topped Region 3-3A foe Yazoo County 3-0 in three competitive sets. The Lady Tigers won the first set, 25-22, and took the second set, 25-18. The third set was the tightest as WHS came out on top, 26-24.
On Monday, Winona dropped a 3-0 decision to Winston Academy, losing the sets 25-18, 25-21 and 25-13.
Winona played at Yazoo County Tuesday and is scheduled to host Amanda Elzy Thursday. The Lady Tigers play at Humphreys County on Sept. 21.
