The Winona Christian Lady Stars clinched the District 2-3A championship this past week as they now start to focus on the North 3A Tournament.
The Lady Stars hammered Central Holmes 13-2 to remain unbeaten in district play and claim the championship.
Winona only got in one game in the Carroll Tournament, falling 9-0 to Indianola in a non-district contest.
Winona, now 15-9 on the season, is scheduled to travel to Benton for a district contest on Monday and will travel to Winston Academy on Tuesday in their only scheduled games this week. Next week, Winona will host Pillow on Monday and travel to Manchester on Tuesday.
Winona Christian 13, Central Holmes 2
The Lady Stars grabbed another district win with a run-rule victory over the Lady Trojans on Tuesday.
The Lady Stars had a trio of four-run innings, scoring four in the first, fourth and fifth innings with a single run in the second.
Winona outhit Central Holmes 12-7 in the contest. Madyson Leach was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored while Sara Rawles was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Hannah Roberts was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs while Kaylah Varnes singled and had three RBIs. Miranda McDaniel singled and drove in two runs while Lennie Wood walked twice and scored twice. Haley Beckwith also scored three runs.
Rawles pitched all five innings and gave up two unearned runs as she scattered seven hits and struck out four.
Indianola 9, Winona Christian 0
The Lady Stars had just two hits as they fell a time-limit contest to the Lady Colonels.
The game was a non-district contest in the Carroll Tournament.
Indianola scored five runs in the first, one in the second and third and two in the fourth.
Indianola outhit Winona 17-2 in the contest.
Lucy Oliver doubled for Winona while Allie Leach had a single.
