The Winona Christian Lady Stars picked up three wins on the hardwoods last week.
The Lady Stars beat Indianola 61-20 on Tuesday and then hammered Columbus Christian 46-24 on Thursday. They finished up the week with a 61-52 win over Oak Hill.
The Stars won two out of three games last week. On Tuesday, the Stars beat Indianola 53-52 before taking a hard-fought 51-47 win over Columbus Christian on Thursday. The Stars finished out the week with a 54-43 loss to Oak Hill on Friday.
Winona was scheduled to host Indianola on Tuesday in their only scheduled game of the week. WCS was scheduled to travel to Marshall on Friday but that game has been cancelled.
Winona Christian girls 61, Oak Hill 52
The Lady Stars used a big third period and held on in the fourth to take a nine-point win in district play over the Lady Raiders.
Each team scored 12 points in the first period and Oak Hill outscored Winona 20-19 in the second to lead 32-31 at the half. But the Lady Stars dominated the third period, outscoring the Lady Raiders 17-5 to take a 48-37 lead into the fourth. Oak Hill took the fourth 15-13 for the final margin.
Bella Roberts had a big game for the Lady Stars with a double-double, going for 19 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists. Olivia Brooks also had 19 points and seven steals while Audrey Eldridge had 17 points and five rebounds.
Oak Hill boys 54, Winona Christian 43
The Raiders pulled away late and took an 11-point win over the Stars on Friday.
The game was tight for the first three periods. Winona led 10-8 at the end of the first period and Oak Hill outscored the Stars 13-11 in the second to tie the game at 21-21 at the half. Winona took the lead back in the third period, outscoring the Raiders 14-13 to lead 35-34 going into the fourth. But the Raiders outscored the Stars 20-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Jake Ware led Winona with 22 points while Landon Bland had eight points, eight rebounds and four steals. Collin Parkinson also had seven points and seven rebounds.
Winona Christian girls 46, Columbus Christian 24
The Lady Stars overcame a slow start to pull away and take a 22-point win over the Lady Rams.
Each team scored four points in the first period before Winona outscored Columbus 16-6 in the second to lead 20-10 at the half. The Lady Stars continued to extend their lead in the second half as they outscored the Lady Rams 15-12 in the third and 11-2 in the fourth.
Audrey Eldridge had a huge game for the Lady Stars as she posted a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Bella Roberts also had double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and six blocks. Ashleigh Parkinson also had nine points and three assists.
Winona Christian boys 51, Columbus Christian 47
The Stars overcame an early deficit and took a four-point win over the Rams on Thursday.
Columbus jumped out quick and had a 15-10 lead at the end of the first period. But Winona outscored Columbus 16-9 in the second and led 26-24 at the half. Columbus battled back in the third and outscored Winona 14-11 in the third and led 38-37 going to the fourth. But Winona Christian outscored Columbus 14-9 in the fourth to take the win.
Jake Ware had a big game as he pumped in 29 points and had six rebounds and three assists. Landon Bland also had a solid game with eight points, 14 rebounds and two assists.
Winona Christian girls 61, Indianola 20
The Lady Stars dominated the second half as they took a 41-point win over the Lady Colonels in district play.
Winona led 13-7 at the end of the first period and then outscored Indianola 16-6 in the second to lead 29-13 at the half. The Lady Stars continued to extend their lead in the second half as they outscored Indianola 18-7 in the third and 14-0 in the fourth.
Bella Roberts led the Lady Stars with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Audrey Eldridge had 17 points and six rebounds. Olivia Brooks also had 15 points and six assists.
Winona Christian boys 53, Indianola 52
In a back-and-forth game, the Stars came away with a one-point win over the Colonels on Tuesday.
Winona led 7-5 at the end of the first and 18-17 at the half. In a back-and-forth second half, Indianola took the third period 18-17 to tie the game at 35-35 at the end of the third. Winona outscored Indianola 18-17 in the fourth to take a big district win.
Jake Ware led the Stars in scoring with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists. Jacob Mann had a double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and four assists while Collin Parkinson had 11 points and five rebounds.
