The Carroll Academy Lady Rebels qualified for the Class 3A state tournament on Saturday with a pair of wins.
After falling 7-6 to North Delta in the opening round game, the Lady Rebels bounced back with a 19-2 win over Kirk Academy. The Lad Rebels then needed extra innings in an elimination game as beat Indianola 9-3 in eight innings.
The Lady Rebels returned to action on Tuesday and lost 5-4 to host North Delta in the fourth-place game.
Carroll, now 11-12 on the year, will advance to the Class 3A state tournament on Saturday at Magee and face the No. 1 seed from the South 3A Tournament.
North Delta 5, Carroll 4
The Lady Wave scored in the bottom of the seventh to eliminate the Lady Rebels on Tuesday.
North Delta struck first with two runs in the first but Carroll answered with three in the second to take the lead. North Delta added single runs in the fourth and fifth to go ahead 4-3. Carroll scored one in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 4-4 before North Delta scored in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.
North Delta outhit Carroll 11-7. Peyton Perry was 2-for-3 and scored a run while Presley Woods singled and drove in two runs. Kaitlyn Chamblee doubled and walked twice.
Perry pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up five runs on 11 hits and struck out three.
North Delta 7, Carroll 6
The Lady Rebels got sent to the losers bracket of the North 3A Tournament on Saturday with a one-one-run loss to the Lady Wave.
After two scoreless innings, North Delta took control with four runs in the third. Carroll fought back with one in the top of the fourth and two in the fifth to cut the score to 4-3. But North Delta scored two in the fifth to go back up 6-3. Carroll evened the score with three runs in the top sixth before North Delta added one in the bottom of the sixth to take the win.
Carroll had seven hits in the contest, led by Kaitlyn Chamblee how as 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Bella Carter doubled and scored two runs while Alana Garrett doubled and scored a run. Presley Woods also tripled and scored a run.
Peyton Perry pitched six innings and gave up seven runs o seven hits but also struck out seven.
Carroll 19, Kirk 2
The Lady Rebels exploded for 12 runs in the first inning and cruised to a three-inning run-rule victory in losers bracket game.
Carroll added seven runs in the second inning to take the win.
Carroll had 12 hits and drew nine walks in the game. Helen Claire Cobb was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs while Kaitlyn Chamblee was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs as well. Peyton Perry was also 2-for-2 and had three RBIs while Presley Woods was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Bella Carter had double, walked twice, scored three runs and had two RBIs. Meri Brynn Reeves also doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs. Kaylee Ferguson singled and drove in two runs while Lexi McClain and Mary Braxton Cobb each walked twice and scored twice.
Peyton Perry pitched two innings and gave up just one hit and struck out six while Meri Brynn Reeves pitched the last inning and gave up two runs on one hit and four walks.
Carroll 9, Indianola 3
Facing a second elimination game, the Lady Rebels needed extra innings to stay alive as they eliminated district foe Indianola on Saturday.
Indianola jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings before Carroll tied it up with one in the fifth and two in the sixth. Carroll then scored six runs in the eighth inning and took the win.
Carroll outhit Indianola 13-6 in the contest. Presley Woods was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Helen Claire Cobb was 3-for-5 with two RBIs while Bella Carter was 3-for-5. Kaylee Ferguson was 2-for-4 with a triple while Peyton Perry also tripled. Alana Garrett walked twice and scored twice while Natalie Kelly also scored twice.
Perry pitched all eight innings, giving up three runs on six hits.
