Winona Christian cancelled both of its basketball games last week as they were scheduled to host Winston and Heritage Academy.
Athletics Director Junior Graham said on Sunday that all three of the games schedule for this week were also being cancelled as well.
“We are not going to be in school this week,” Graham said. “We have a couple of elementary teachers who are out with COVID so we decided to not be in school this week and try to nip this thing in the bud.”
Winona was scheduled to host North Sunflower on Monday, travel to Benton on Tuesday and host Hebron Christian on Thursday.
After the Thanksgiving holiday, Winona Christian is scheduled to host Benton on Monday, Nov. 30 and then travel to Winston Academy on Tuesday, Dec. 1. They will end the week on Thursday, Dec. 3 as they travel to Starkville Academy before opening district play the next week with Carroll Academy.
Carroll Academy
While the Carrol football team has been busy in the playoffs, the basketball team had to cancel two basketball games last week.
Carroll cancelled games with Winston Academy and then with Washington.
Carroll is scheduled to host North Delta on Tuesday and Thursday’s game at Winston Academy has been cancelled.
Carroll will return from the Thanksgiving holiday and open with Deer Creek on Tuesday, Dec. 1. They will then travel to Kirk Academy on Thursday, Dec. 3 before hosting Winona Christian on Saturday, Dec. 5 in a district contest.
