Winona High School’s girls volleyball team swept a pair of Region 3-3A matches last week to improve to 11-7 overall and 5-0 in league play.
The Lady Tigers started the week with a 3-0 victory over Amanda Elzy last Tuesday. They won the sets 25-14, 25-7 and 25-18.
Last Thursday, Winona topped Yazoo County 3-0 as it won the sets 25-8, 27-25 and 25-9.
Winona, which played at Water Valley Monday and hosted Grenada High School Tuesday, visits Elzy Thursday at Greenwood High’s gymnasium in its final region contest of the regular season. The Lady Tigers entertain Noxapater High School next Monday and go to J.Z. George next Tuesday.

The Lady Jaguars are playing catch up with their schedule and had to play two doubleheaders against Region 4-2A foes last week.
J.Z. George took to the court last Tuesday for their first home action of the season and fell in two straight matches to Eupora High School. The Lady Eagles won the first match 3-0 as they took the sets 25-23, 25-4 and 25-10. In the second match, Eupora swept the sets 25-6, 25-10 and 25-15.
Last Thursday, J.Z. George was on the road at region foe Philadelphia High School. The Lady Tornadoes won the first match 3-0 as they took the sets 25-23, 25-19 and 25-23. In the second match, Philadelphia won the sets 25-15, 26-24 and 25-20.
The Lady Jaguars, who are 0-9 overall and 0-6 in region, played at Sebastopol High School Monday in a region doubleheader and hosted Holmes County Central Tuesday.
