The Carroll Academy Lady Rebels split a pair of games with Oak Hill last week.
After losing 11-5 to the Lady Raiders on Monday, the Lady Rebels had a walk-off 5-4 victory on Tuesday for their first win of the season.
Carroll 5, Oak Hill 4
The Lady Rebels scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to grab their first win of the season on Tuesday.
Oak Hill scored two in the first and one in the third. Carroll scored two in the bottom of the third to cut the score to 3-2. Oak Hill added a single run in the sixth to extend its lead to 4-2. Carroll put two on to start the seventh and then got an RBI groundout from Kaylyn Wilthshire and an RBI single from Emma Matthews to tie the game at 4-4. After a walk and a fielder’s choice, Kenzie Reeves singled to left field to score Audrey Woods and give Carroll the win.
Carroll had eight hits in the contest as Reeves was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Layla Neese was 2-for-3 with a double. Wiltshire also 2-for-3.
Neese started in the circle and pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on five hits and six walks while striking out two.
Oak Hill 11, Carroll 5
The Lady Raiders overcame an early deficit and took a six-run win over the Lady Rebels on Monday.
After two scoreless innings, Carroll scored four in the third angled 4-1 after three. Oak Hill then scored three in the fourth to tie the game at 4-4. Carroll then scored one in the fifth before Oak Hill scored seven in the bottom of the fifth to take the win.
Carroll had six hits in the contest. Natalee Mitchell was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs while Rachel Dugger doubled and drove in two runs. Emma Matthews was also 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
Kaylyn Wiltshire started in the circle and pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up nine runs on three hits and six walks while striking out four. Layla Neese pitched the last 1 2/3 innings and gave up two unearned runs on one hit and two walks.
