It was a rough week of basketball for the J.Z. George High School girls and boys basketball teams as both were swept in their games.
The week started with a pair of contests at Kosciusko High School. The Lady Whippets cruised to a 45-6 win on Nov. 19 as Kosciusko led 19-2 after one, 30-2 at the half and 43-5 after the third.
In the boys game, Kosciusko claimed a 62-25 win as the Whippets led 14-10 after one, 31-16 at the half and 56-20 after the third frame. Terrence Whitcomb led J.Z. George with seven points, and Kanye Weaver had six points.
J.Z. George played at West Tallahatchie High School last Friday. The girls fell 40-23 as West Tally led 11-5 after one, 18-13 at the half and 24-16 after the third frame. Makylah Banks led the Lady Jags (1-5) with 14 points. Leah Franklin had four points and six rebounds.
West Tally claimed the boys game 63-41 as the Choctaws led 17-8 after the first, 29-17 at the half and 53-25 after the third period. Broderick Green had 14 points, Martavis Banks seven and Kanye Weaver six for the Jaguars (2-4).
The Lady Jags played in the Senatobia Tournament Monday and Tuesday. They took on Independence Monday and played Desoto Central Tuesday.
Both teams return Dec. 3 at home against Kosciusko and go to Winona High School on Dec. 6.
