The Vaiden Legends Basketball League is a co-ed youth league encouraging K-12 players in their enjoyment for the sport. Initially started in November of 2023, the group is making their comeback for this year’s season, with greater interest now than shown in the previous year. The youth league is led by Head Coach Jermarcus Williams, who has guided the team since its founding in 2023, as well as Coach Chester Robinson and Coach Cyletria Rice.
The team intends to hold a Meet The Legends event on Feb. 25th at the Vaiden gym at 12:30 p.m. for their first home game. Coach Williams stated he is “looking for local support” at the game to encourage and support the team. The team is looking to reach out to parents whose kids may be interested in joining the community-oriented sports team and is welcoming to kids from all surrounding counties and townships. Coach Williams stated that their main goal is to inspire “leadership, teamwork, and building kids’ confidence.”
The team is currently accepting donations through their coaching staff and intends to participate in fundraisers to support the team. The Legends are also expected to participate in a tournament for youth leagues on Mar. 30th through 31st, in which the Vaiden team compete against teams from Greenwood, Jackson, and Lexington.
