WINONA – The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors accepted bids to renovate or rebuild four homes in Montgomery County as part of the HOME Grant.
The HOME Grant is a program of the Mississippi Home Corporation that provides grant funds to securing the structural integrity and correcting major deficiencies in homes of low-income residents. In some cases, new homes can be constructed when the existing structure is too deteriorated to renovate. Participants of the HOME grant program are selected through an application process, and contractors for the project are selected through a competitive bid process.
This year, four homes from Montgomery County were selected for the HOME Grant program. Two will be completely rebuilt, while two others will be renovated.
North Central Planning and Development’s Chris Pope announced the lowest bids submitted for this year’s program. K&T Construction of Durant was awarded the two homes that will be rebuilt -- $143,500 for new construction on Sweet Home Road in Duck Hill and $132,500 for new construction on Greensboro Street in Winona.
AIA Builders of Greenwood was awarded the two home renovations -- $48,300 for a home on Highway 51 in Winona and $48,000 for a home on Carrollton Street in Duck Hill.
