After several high-scoring games this season and clinching the district title, the Winona Tigers had a pair of tight games this past week.
The Tigers beat Calhoun Academy 6-2 on Tuesday and then lost a 5-3 game to Eupora on Thursday.
Eupora 5, Winona 3
The Eagles scored five in the top of the first and held on to take a two-run win over the Tigers on Thursday.
After Eupora went up 5-0, Winona fought back with one in the third and two in the sixth to pull within two.
Eupora outhit Winona 8-2 in the contest and each team committed six errors. Jacob Myers singled, walked twice and drove in a run while Aiden Eldridge singled and scored a run.
Ashton Hurst, Clayton Sheffield, Dalton Ferguson and Jacob Myers all pitched for the Tigers.
Winona 6, Calhoun Academy 2
The Tigers scored four in the second and took a four-run win over the Cougars on Tuesday.
Calhoun scored one in the first before Winona answered with four in the second. Winona answered with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Winona had 10 hits in the contest as Jacob Myers went 4-for-5 with a double. Kamron Wadlington had a two-run home run while Danarius Robinson had a solo home run. Ashton Hurst also doubled and scored a run.
Dalton Ferguson started on the mound and pitched three innings, giving up one run on two hits while striking out three. Myers pitched four innings and gave up one run on two hits.
