Winona Christian captured a pair of individual state championships this past week at the Class 3A state track meet.
On the girls side, Winona’s Hannah Ware won the 400-meter dash. Winona also had two second-place finishes on the girls side as Bella Roberts was second in the triple jump while the 4x200-meter relay team was second as well.
On the boys side, Dalton Wiggins on the triple jump while Carroll’s Cooper Beck was second in the shot put.
The Winona Christian girls finished sixth with 50 points while the Winona boys were seventh with 43 points. The Carroll boys were 10th with 18 points while the Carroll girls were 14th with eight points.
3A girls meet
• In the girls 100-meter dash, Winona’s Ashley Parkinson finished sixth with a time of 13.58 while teammate Hannah Ware was seventh with a time of 13.77
• In the girls 200-meter dash, Winona’s Hannah Ware was third with a time of 27.50.
• In the girls 400-meter dash, Hannah Ware captured the gold medal as she finished with a time of 1:01.16.
• In the girls 3,200-meter runs, Winona’s Milee Summerlin was sixth with a time of 15:11.21.
• In the 100-meter hurdles, Winona Katy Ware was sixth with a time of 18.82.
• In the 300-meter hurdles, Winona’s Katy Ware was eighth with a time of 55.09.
• In the 4x100-meter relay, the Winona team of Ashley Parkinson, Olivia Brooks, Bella Roberts and Hannah Ware were third with a time of 54.16.
• In the 4x200-meter relay, Winona finished second with a time of 1:53.65. The team of Winona Christian made up of Ashley Parkinson, Katy Ware, Olivia Brooks and Bella Roberts.
• In the 4x400-meter relay, Carroll was seventh with a time of 4:51.92. Making up the team was Audrey Woods, Carlie Hoover, Carley Beth Bullard and Ann Shelby Whitworth.
• In the triple jump, Winona’s Bella Roberts was second with a jump of 33 feet, 5.5 inches.
• In the shot put, Carroll’s Meri Brynn Reeves was fifth with a throw of 27 feet, 1.5 inches
3A boys meet
• In the 100-meter dash, Winona’s Blake Cooper finished fifth wit a time of 11.71.
• In the 400-meter dash, Winona’s Dalton Wiggins was third with a time of 54.44.
• In the 1,600-meter run, Winona’s Jake Ware was sixth with a time of 5:15.90.
• In the 3,200-meter run, Winona’s Jack Sorgen was eighth with a time of 12:42.42.
• In the 110-meter hurdles, Carroll’s Noah Beck was fourth with a time of 18.77.
• In the 4x100-meter relay, Winona Christian was sixth with a time of 46.31. Making up the Winona team was Steele Mims, Blake Cooper, Scott Walters and Dalton Wiggins.
• In the 4x200-meter relay, Winona was fourth with a time of 1:36.91. Making up the Winona team was Steele Mims, Blake Cooper, Sam Thompson and Dalton Wiggins.
• In the 4x400-meter relay, Carroll was sixth with a time of 4:01.54 The team was made up of Mathis Beck, Noah Beck, Bryce Collier and Collin Hurst.
• In the 4x800-meter relay, Winona Christian was third with a time of 9:22.47. Making up the team was Trace Carpenter, Reed Shuler, Collin Parkinson and Jake Ware.
• In the high jump, Winona’s Dalton Wiggins was ninth with a jump of 5 feet, 4 inches.
• In the long jump, Winona’s Blake Cooper finished fifth with a jump of 19 feet, 2 inches.
• In the triple jump, Winona Christian’s Dalton Wiggins won the event with a jump of 43, feet, 6.25 inches.
• In the shot put, Carroll’s Cooper Beck was second with a throw of 43 feet, 1.75 inches while Winona’s Hayden Self was eighth with a throw of 39 feet, 2.5 inches.
• In the discus, Carroll’s Cooper Beck was seventh with a throw of 102 feet, 4 inches.
