Dr. Pamela Gary marks her twelfth year as Chief Executive Officer of Central Mississippi, Incorporated, overseeing seven Delta counties, aiding the elderly, disabled and disenfranchised. Dr. Gary is a native of Carroll County, of which she is most proud. She attended J. Z. George High School and received her B. S. from Jackson State University. She furthered her studies at Delta State University in Cleveland and returned to her beloved Jackson State University for her doctorate in Urban Higher Education amassing 34 years of leadership across private and public sectors. Dr. Gary’s grant endeavors exceed $78 million, complemented by her role as a certified economic developer and grants specialist. Internationally, she’s taught small business workshops at Amur State University in Russia, advised women’s groups in Luanda, Angola, and researched community and economic development in Belize, Cuba, and Africa. Dr. Gary is a dedicated community servant and President of Zeta Phi Beta’s local chapter, Beta Alpha Delta Zeta in Carroll County, Board Member at Mallory Community Health Clinic, and Treasurer and Trustee of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Carroll County.
Dr. Gary was selected to receive the Joseph R. Biden, President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication and service to the communities she serves. The awards show was held in Memphis, Tenn. on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
