A Vaiden man awaits the action of the Carroll County Grand Jury following the murder of six-year-old Orlando “King” Pittmon.
Thomas Perry, III, 19, has been charged with first degree murder in the death of his younger brother, Pittmon, according to a statement released by Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker. Perry is accused of inflicting “multiple stab wounds” on Pittmon.
Perry also has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty and arson, according to the statement.
During Perry’s initial hearing on July 12, Judge Tinesha Erve-Earnest set a $1.2 million bond, according to Walker.
Erve-Earnest set $1 million for the first-degree murder charge, $100,000 for the aggravated animal cruelty charge and $100,000 for arson.
“At the time of the homicide, Perry was out on bond for a June 2022 misdemeanor charge of domestic violence – simple assault. Judge Earnest revoked that bond at the hearing as well,” the release stated.
Perry went before Judge Erve-Earnest on July 16, for his preliminary hearing at the Carroll County Courthouse in Vaiden, where he was bound over to await the action of the Grand Jury, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department.
Perry’s attorney requested a bond reduction, which was denied, and Perry remains in the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility.
