The movie, “Facing the Giants” (2006), is an American Christian drama. It is about a losing coach, with an underdog football team, who faces their fear of failure on and off the field. The results are quite different in the end. The coach turns to prayer and has a whole new perspective on facing the giant -- with God of course.
Worldwide, we all endure “giants” whether spiritual, physical, or peer pressure, depression, loneliness, relationships, etc.
Think about a “giant” you are facing now or one you have faced in the past in which you felt all alone.
Sometimes God uses “giants” to shape us into the person He wants us to become. Therefore, we must trust Him while facing those “giants.”
According to Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
James 1:2-4 admonishes us to “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
Remember how David, the son of Jesse, slew Goliath (1 Samuel 17) with a single stone, as he slung it into the Philistine’s forehead and he fell to the ground? Now mind you, Goliath was a real giant that challenged the Israelite soldiers daily. Even though David was small in stature, he believed and trusted in God to face his giant.
When facing your “giant,” know that God is with you always!
