Funeral services for Mr. Andrew C. "Pete" McCorkle of Vaiden were held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Vaiden Cemetery. Rev. David Westmoreland officiated the service. Pallbearers were Jason Holly, William Crenshaw, Gene Hurt, Ronnie Robertson, Adam Eldridge and John Huggins. Honorary pallbearers were Ricky McCorkle and Wayne Cook.
Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Andrew C. "Pete" McCorkle, 82, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, at his residence near Vaiden. He was born to William and Kitty Sullivan McCorkle Nov. 6, 1939. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Carroll County and a retired self-employed construction worker.
Mr. McCorkle is survived by his wife, Hilda Pinkston McCorkle of Vaiden; daughter, Kathy Eddins (Don) of Vaiden; son, Andy McCorkle (Delinda) of Vaiden; brother, Fred McCorkle of Leland; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Leneva Stewart, Margie Mullen, and Mozelle Nelms and brothers, Estes McCorkle and Charles McCorkle.
