Tragic Blaze Claims Life in Kilmichael

A fatal house fire claimed the life of a Kilmichael resident on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Montgomery County 911 received the call at 8:49 a.m., reporting a residence on fire at 640 Alva Stage Road.

The Kilmichael Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched and responded promptly. Upon arrival, the fire fighters were confronted with a mobile home fully engulfed in flames. After gaining control of the fire, Bennie Thomas Kirkwood was discovered at the back door of the mobile home. Mr. Kirkwood was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Montgomery County Coroner, Allan Pratt, at 9:34 a.m.
