The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors commenced their August 19 meeting with a presentation from the county's library system, hearing the quarterly reports from the Duck Hill, Kilmichael, and Winona-Montgomery libraries.
Following this, County Engineer Christian Gardner introduced a road improvement project to the Board. The initiative, funded through State Aid Funds and use tax money, focuses on enhancing several crucial county roads. The project encompasses base repair, leveling, and striping for portions of Duck Hill Ranch Road, Fisher Crossing Road, Lake Road, Duck Hill Alva Road, Lodi Road, Oldham Road, Lower Milligan Springs Road, Vaiden Kilmichael Road, School Road, and Ellis Road. These strategic improvements are designed to support the overall condition and safety of the county's road infrastructure, ultimately benefiting both local residents and commuters traversing Montgomery County.
“We’re still a long way from doing this,” Chancery Clerk Ryan Wood said.
“At least a year,” Engineer Gardner replied.
Board President Ron Wood then asked if there was an estimate for the work.
“Right now, showing a whole project cost of $3.3 [million],” Engineer Garnder answered. “Let’s just say 3.3 to 3.5.”
The Board then voted to approve the project.
Lenon Butts then presented the Board with an updated packet detailing changes to the FY2025 budget since their last meeting. While the Board did not discuss the changes in depth, they reviewed the key modifications. The packet included a chart outlining the tax levy percentages, pictured here.
