National Library Week, April 6-12, is a celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians and library workers play in our community. Our libraries are the hub of activity throughout the year! All libraries in Montgomery County are busy planning programs for you, in hopes you take advantage of what is offered.
Friends of the Winona-Montgomery County Library are pleased to welcome Scott Hendrix to Winona for a book talk and signing. He is a life-long resident of Louisville and a graduate of Mississippi State University in 1989. His novels are "The Garden Spot", "The Resting Place", and "Justine". We will be meeting in the Education Building of Moore Memorial Methodist Church on Monday, April 7, beginning at 11:30 A.M. with finger food, followed by the author's presentation. Personal copies will be available following the 12 p.m., noon program. Join us.
In my reading this morning, I came across an article heralding the arrival of spring and Canada geese! Do you wonder why they fly in the "V” formation. Well, the true answer no one knows. Flying in formation may aid communication? One thing is certain-everyone stops to look up when they fly over; it's a happy sound of spring....
Throwing away good reading material is hard, and I simply could not part with "Country" magazine, dated April/May 2004. There is a section on "Can you help me?" The reader posed an interesting question; does anyone know where I can buy Charlie Wright pole bean seed? Another reader states that she Is seeking to find an old-fashioned windmill to pump water into her house. Both are interesting and I wondered if they received a response. So much has changed in our lives since 2004. I have no recollection of the beans she mentioned, but she did....
Happy reading!
