I notice it's very hard to be critical of politicians, particularly the current political party in office. So instead of criticizing, I'm going to simply do some truth dropping. And since billions of dollars combined are invested into think tanks, news media, and social media outlets to feed masses of people misinformation, you may not want to believe the TRUTH.
Many will tell you that the loss of life in the Texas flood is due to DOGE firing over 600 key personnel from the weather service and NOAA, or that the Texas legislature, this past spring while in session, defeated a bill to create an early warning system in "Flood Alley", the very area in which the Flooding occurred. Others like Sen. Ted Cruz was once again on vacation when disaster strikes his state, this time in Greece making comments about Biden hurricane Helene. If I lived in Texas, I would keep tabs on the Senator every time he leaves the country.
For us here, the disaster also reminds us one of the main reasons why our state legislators had to be called into special session was because of funding to MEMA. While Congress was trying to pass the 'Big Beautiful Bill", POTUS was talking about cutting out FEMA and giving it back to the states. Go figure. Standby y'all. In the coming month, you'll be asking why five out of the six people that represent Mississippi at the federal level voted for this bill.
As for me, I'm puzzled as to why 150 billion was allocated to ICE and they still have not deported more folks than Biden or Obama per a month, yet 600 folks fired that help with preventing these types of tragedies becoming loss of life. Meanwhile the Mexican Government sent first responders to the scene immediately and two Mexican women were able to save 20 children. There has to be some rethinking about all this before it's over.
