Funeral services for Mrs. Lauree Carpenter Carter, of Winona, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Stefan Dickerson officiated the service. Pallbearers were Andrew Carpenter, James Barry Carpenter, Micah Prince, Josh Harris, Jason Carpenter, and Tim Collins. Serving as honorary pallbearers were George Self, Matt Bennett, and Tim Williams.
Visitation was Monday, Jan. 13, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.
Mrs. Lauree Carpenter Carter, 87, passed away at her residence in Winona on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025. She was born to Thomas and Lidia Montgomery Carpenter on April 19, 1937. She was a member of North Winona Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she worked as an insurance agent for Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital for 25 years and as a clerk for Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Winona. She was a member of the Winona Lions Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Mindy Clark of Winona; sister, Dorothy Buchell of Winona; sister-in-law, Sara Carpenter; brother, Willie Paul Carpenter of Winona; two grandchildren, Maari Carter of Martin, Tenn. and Josh Downs (Kathryn) of Horn Lake; four great-grandchildren, Braylen Downs, Waverly Drew, Presley Carter, and John Walker Downs; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Carter and brothers, Billy Carpenter and Thomas Allen Carpenter.
