The Winona High School girls volleyball team pulled off a 3-2 match win over Region 4-3A foe Choctaw County last Thursday to improve to 12-6 overall and 4-1 in the region.
The Lady Tigers lost the first set 27-25 but took the second set 25-20. Choctaw claimed the third set 25-18, but Winona came alive and won the final two sets, 25-16 and 15-13.
The Lady Tigers dropped a 3-1 decision to Nettleton High School in a district match last Tuesday. Winona won the first set 25-20, but Nettleton rallied to win the next three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-23.
Winona played host to region foe Aberdeen High School last Monday, claiming a 3-0 match win. The Lady Tigers took the sets 25-4, 25-12 and 25-13.
Winona played at Choctaw County Tuesday and hosts Water Valley Monday.

The Lady Jaguars went 1-1 in two matches played last week to move to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in Region 3-2A action.
J.Z. George dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Leflore County last Thursday, falling 25-17, 25-20 and 25-15.
The Lady Jags played host to region opponent Charleston High School Monday, defeating the Lady Tigers 3-1. They won the first two sets 25-13 and 25-12, but Charleston took the third set 25-23. J.Z. George closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.
J.Z. George, which played at Northside in a region match Monday, hosts Leland on Sept. 22.
