The Winona High School girls soccer team started Region 4 Class I play with a pair of wins last week to move to 4-1 overall start 2-0 in region play.
The Lady Tigers beat Mississippi School for Math & Science 2-1 last Thursday as Isabella Durham scored two goals. Mary Beth Brannon had one assist.
Winona defeated region foe Philadelphia High School 5-1 on Dec. 3 as Brannon and Lilly Chandler scored two goals each. Anna Beth Walton had the fifth goal, and Brannon had one assist.
The Tigers earned one win in the two games as they defeated Philadelphia 4-2. TJ Small had two goals, and Tristin Purnell and Hammond Austin scored a goal each.
MSMS slipped past Winona 1-0 to drop the Tigers to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in Region 4.
Winona’s girls and boys played at Independence High School Monday and hosted Senatobia High School Tuesday. Winona plays at Kemper High School Friday in region games.
