Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Discovering and knowing the will of God is a journey that requires faith, patience, and a deep relationship with Him. God’s will is often revealed through Scripture. By studying the Bible, we align our thoughts with His and gain wisdom to make decisions. God often confirms His will through situations, open doors, and even closed ones. It is good to pay attention to how He aligns events in your life.
One of the greatest questions believers ask is, “What is God’s will for my life?” We often seek direction when making major decisions—choosing a career, a spouse, a ministry, or navigating life’s challenges. However, knowing God’s will is more than just making the right choices; it is about walking in a deep relationship with Him.
Seeking the will of God is a vital part of a meaningful prayer. We know that prayer is the offering up of our desires unto God for things agreeable to His will. To learn what God’s will for each of us is, requires that we read and search the scriptures. In Roman 8:29, it says that those whom God had already chosen He also set apart to become like His Son. God wants every Christian to become like Jesus Christ. Any application of scriptural truth; any prayer pleading; any results of meditation; any changes wrought through the rough and tumble of daily living; any inner working of the Holy Spirit; anything that produces more Christlikeness in our personalities – this is the primary will of God for us.
The Christlikeness is evident in individuals as the Holy Spirit works within them. It is easy to see, if we but watch for the fruit of the Spirit as mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23 ―But the Spirit produces LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, HUMILITY AND SELF CONTROL.” All these characteristics that God wants developed in us are all part of God’s Will for us.
Discovering from Scripture how God wants us to live, what God wants us to become, how God desires the IMAGE OF JESUS CHRIST to be implanted into our personalities is most important to meaningful prayer. These discoveries are basic and will help us live positively even when life situations might appear negative. They will help us discover God in the valleys of life as well as on the mountaintops. As we live each day, allowing the mind and character of Christ to dominate our thinking and willing, we’ll know, as Paul wrote in Romans 12:2…‖that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
