A beautiful memorial service was hosted at the Kilmichael Veterans Memorial Cemetery Monday, attended by residents from surrounding communities to pay respects to those whose sacrifices the day is tribute to. The event was highlighted by its strong list of speakers and community members who came to remember the meaning of the day and those who have fallen for our freedoms. The Master of Ceremonies, Bill Rhine began the service, followed by a heartfelt invocation given by Rev. Bradley Herod. Caroline Kennard gave a lovely performance of the National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”. Following her moving performance, Guest Speaker Brigadier General Tommy Tillman gave his regards to those in attendance. Next, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution Norma Biggers, Angelyn McCullua, and Beverly Taylor paid tribute to Carroll and Montgomery county locals lost in previous wars and conflicts, including approximately 200 individuals who lost their lives in World Wars I and II, Korea, and Vietnam. Following the DAR, the Grand Commandry of the MS Knights Templar and Masonic Bodies Ronald Garner and George Frasier spoke, expressing their thanks for those in service. Finally, the ceremony was drawn to a close with a solemn yet charming performance of Taps by Ethan Bailey.
