The J.Z. George High School archery team hosted two matches last week in North Carrollton.
Last Thursday, the Jaguars, Pillow Academy, Winona High School, Leflore Christian School and Neshoba Central High School all competed with Neshoba Central claiming first with a score of 2,996 points.
The Jaguars finished in second place with a team score of 2,860. Winona finished third with a score of 2,612. Pillow earned fourth place with a team score of 2,543 points.
The top 12 scores from each team were used to calculate the team’s total score.
The top performers for J.Z. George were Dustin Dickerson (242), Tyler Duren (211), Kelton Sanders (273), Eli Miley (205), Emma Boyles (219), Bella Jones (222), Ava Hollis (245), Gallaxie Little (267), Wyatt Goss (250), Keldon Blackmon (255), Jaylon Normal (234) and AbbyGail Clardy (237).
In a match held last Tuesday against Water Valley, J.Z. George finished with 2,687 total points. Water Valley had 3,091 points.
The Jaguars’ top 12 scorers were Dickerson (220), Shy’erra Hemphill (198), Sanders (271), Cotravis Harris (222), Miley (192), Boyles (198), Jones (207), Little (274), Goss (244), Blackmon (242), Normal (206) and Clardy (213).
The archery team is slated to shoot again March 21.

The Jaguars failed to record a hit against Sebastopol High School in a 17-0 loss last Monday in a Region 4-2A contest.
The Bobcats, who ended the night with nine hits, scored 14 runs in the first inning and tacked on three more in the second.
Brayden Counts (0-1) took the loss as he pitched 1 1/3 innings for J.Z. George, giving up nine hits and 17 runs (two earned) to the Bobcats. Counts struck out one and walked six. Dylan Nobles pitched in relief and fanned two batters.
The two teams squared off again last Thursday with Sebastopol claiming a 16-0 win in three innings in North Carrollton. The Bobcats tallied 10 runs in the first and six in the second.
The Jaguars (0-6 overall) failed to record a hit. Kaleb Mulvihill (0-2) took the loss as he went 1 1/3 innings, allowing 16 runs (11 earned) on 10 hits, walking one and fanning one. Nobles pitched 1 2/3 innings, walking three and fanning two.
J.Z. George returns to action on Tuesday at home against region foe Union High School. They entertain Winona High School March 21.

The Lady Jaguars, who did not play a game last week, played at Winona High School on Monday. They return to action March 19 at home against Sebastopol in a Region 4-2A contest.
J.Z. George powerlifting
J.Z. George’s Trinity McCaskill qualified for the state powerlifting competition with a third-place finish in the 165-pound weight class at the North half meet Friday at Water Valley.
McCaskill was the only girl of the six who competed to qualify from J.Z. George.
The state meet will be held April 5-6.
