The J.Z. George High School baseball team was only able to squeeze in one game last week as one game was canceled because the opposing team was in the state basketball championship and another game got rained out.
Winona Christian School exploded for eight runs in the first inning and 16 in the second in taking down the Jaguars 25-2 last Monday in North Carrollton.
The Stars tacked on one run in the third. J.Z. George (0-4) scored both of its runs in the bottom of the third.
Tyler Nobles drove in both runs with a double, and Lavarious Holmes had a single and scored a run for the Jaguars. Kaleb Mulvihill had two singles, and Dylan Nobles scored a run.
Jax Mulvihill (0-1) took the loss as he went one inning, allowing eight runs (two earned) on four hits, walking one and striking out one. Kaleb Mulvihill started the second inning, failing to record an out. He yielded eight runs (all earned) on three hits, walking two. Michael Summerville relieved and gave up two runs (both earned), walking two. Brayden Counts got the last six outs, giving up seven runs (five earned) on three hits, walking eight and fanning two.
J.Z. George, which was slated to play Sebastopol High School Monday, goes to McAdams Thursday and entertains Sebastopol Friday.

The Lady Jaguars dropped to 1-5 overall with a pair of losses in the circle last week.
J.Z. George fell 18-3 to Riverside High School in a girls fastpitch softball game last Thursday in Avon.
The Lady Jags scored the first run of the game, but Riverside plated 12 runs in the home half of the first and tacked on three runs apiece in the second and third frames. The Lady Jags scored two runs in the third inning.
For J.Z. George, Saralyn Roberts had a single and two RBIs, and Trinity McCaskill had a triple and scored two runs. Jessie Cornish had an RBI single, and Tysalyn Meeks scored a run.
Rylan Hancock started in the circle, yielding seven runs (all earned) on one hit, walking four. Roberts relieved and went three innings, giving up 11 runs (six earned) on seven hits, walking four and striking out three.
The Lady Jags dropped a 19-3 decision to French Camp Academy last Tuesday in North Carrollton.
French Camp scored nine runs in the first, seven in the second and three in the third. J.Z. George scored one in the second and two in the third.
Cornish had a single and double and scored a run. Ta’Mya Robinson had a single, RBI and scored once, and Roberts had an RBI single.
Roberts took the loss in the circle as she gave up all 19 runs (four earned) on 11 hits, walking four and striking out one.

J.Z. George’ finished with a team score of 2,775 points at a shoot it hosted last Thursday in North Carrollton against Pillow Academy and Winona High School.
Pillow won the event with a team score of 2,939 points, and Winona finished with 2,649 points.
The Jaguars’ team score was made up of the top six boys and girls from the shoot. The boys and their scores were Kelton Sanders (261), Dustin Dickerson (254), Wyatt Goss (244), Eli Miley (225), Kelden Blackmon (217) and Tyler Duren (208). Other boys who competed were Cotravis Harris (191), Chad Woodard (162) and Payton Hobson (156).
The top six girls for the team were Galaxie Little (264), Emma Boyles (238), Jakilya Ghoston (232), Bella Jones (226), Ava Hollis (203) and Shyera Hemphill (203). Others who shot were Adrienne Crowder (197), Khadejah Davis (156), McKenzie Ainsworth (155) and Nakyla Fleming (153).
