The J.Z. George boys basketball team got off to a 1-0 start in Region 4-2A play with a 49-25 win over Sebastopol High School last Monday night in North Carrollton.
The Jaguars (6-7 overall, 1-0 in region) led 14-6 after one, 28-11 at the half and 37-15 after the third period.
Martavis Banks led a balanced attack with 10 points. Kanye Weaver had nine points, and Nicholas Lacy and Tyler Duren chipped in six points apiece. Terrence Whitcomb had four points.
In the girls game, Sebastopol claimed a 49-37 win as the Lady Bobcats led 22-15 at the half and 41-25 after the third period.
Makylah Banks paced J.Z. George (3-12, 0-1) with 22 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Miya Leahman had six points and eight rebounds, and Kyndale Edwards had five points.
J.Z. George, which visited region foe Philadelphia High School Monday and went to East Webster Tuesday, plays at Eupora High School in region games Thursday.
