The Carroll Academy baseball team got a tough draw in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, falling in three games to North Delta.
The Green Wave took the first game 3-1 but dropped the second game 10-8 on Friday at Carroll. North Delta then exploded and won 16-3 in the deciding third game on Friday to take the series.
Carroll ends the season with a 19-10 record.
North Delta 3, Carroll 1
The Rebels managed only three hits a run as the Green Wave took the series opener on Tuesday.
North Delta scored one in the first and two in the sixth and led 3-0. Carroll scratched one run in the seventh.
Ryan Logan was 2-for-3 with a double while Jake Pruitt singled and drove in a run.
Logan started on the mound and was solid for the Rebels, giving up three runs with only one earned on three hits and four walks while striking out 11.
Carroll 10, North Delta 8
The Rebels bounced back in game two of the series to take a two-run win on Friday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Each team scored four runs in the second inning while North Delta plated three in the second and Carroll answered with three in the fourth to tie the game at 7-7. Carroll then scored three runs in the sixth to go up 10-7 and held North Delta to one in the top of the seventh.
Carroll had eight hits and drew five walks. Brennan Blaylock was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and five RBIs while Ryan Thomas was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Lofton Holly also singled and drove in two runs for the Rebels.
Ethan Mims started and pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs on four hits and five walks while striking out two. Reid Blaylock pitched the last 2 2/3 innings and gave up one run on one hit while striking out two.
North Delta 16, Carroll 3
After dropping the first game of the doubleheader, the Green Wave used three big innings to take a five-inning, run-rule win to take the series on Friday.
North Delta scored six in the second and followed with five in the third and fifth innings. Carroll scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Carroll had just three hits in the contest. Maddox Carpenter doubled and scored while Ryan Logan singled and walked twice. Reid Blaylock also singled while Brennan Blaylock and Lofton Holly both walked and scored a run.
Brandon McKenzie started and pitched two innings, giving up six unearned runs on six hits. Holly pitched the next two innings and gave up 10 runs on eight hits and five walks. Reid Blaylock pitched the last inning and gave up just one hit.
