The Lady Jags and Jaguars began Region 4-2A play last week with games against Sebastopol High School and Philadelphia High School.
Against Sebastopol on Jan. 2, the Lady Jaguars dropped a 46-16 decision as they trailed 17-0 after one, 32-9 at the half and
39-13 after the third. Makylah Banks had eight points, and TaMya Robinson six for J.Z. George.
In the boys game, Sebastopol came out on top 58-44 as it led 12-2 after one, 30-18 at the half and 48-33 after the third. Jeremiah Williams had 14 points, and Nehemiah Williams tacked on nine. Kemaurion Wiley had seven points, and Joshua Fleming tacked on six for the Jaguars.
In games against Philadelphia on Jan. 5, the Jaguars (1-10, 0-2) dropped a 51-34 decision to the Tornadoes, which led 25-20 at the half and 43-25 after the third period. Nehemiah Williams had 11, and Banks eight for the Jags.
In the girls game, Philadelphia won 61-36 as it led 17-6 after one, 37-19 at the half and 54-24 after the third. Aaniyah Williams had 15 points, and Trinity McCaskill seven for the Lady Jags (1-10, 0-2).
J.Z. George, which hosted Eupora on Tuesday in a region game, will entertain Union High School Jan. 16. The Jaguars will play Saturday at 9 a.m. against Leflore County in the MLK Classic at Grenada High School.
