This week, kids from all counties are looking forward to the exhilarating hunt for Easter eggs, the joy of receiving goodies, and the warming visit from the Easter Bunny. Last Saturday, March 23, Kilmichael kicked off Easter ,with a head start on all surrounding counties, with their Easter Event on the Square, coordinated by Kilmichael resident Yvette Hudson. This weekend, Thursday through Sunday, surrounding municipalities and organizations will follow with their own spring celebrations.
Thursday, March 28, at 6 p.m., Winona Jr. Auxiliary will host an Easter Egg hunt sponsored by them at the pavilion of Winona Housing Authority for the children of Winona Housing Authority. Members of Jr. Auxiliary have funded and organized the event for the benefit of the kids and their families, wanting to give back to the WHA community.
The town of Carrollton will host an all-day Good Friday Event on March 29. Starting at 10 a.m., the Easter Bunny himself will make an appearance for pictures with attendees. The Easter Bunny will be at Stanhope and the Methodist Church until 2 p.m., so don’t miss him! A Chic-fil-A vending truck will be present on the square from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to keep attendees well fed. At 3 p.m. there will be an Easter Egg Hunt on the square for kids to fill their baskets. Carrollton Baptist Church will host a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. to remind attendees the true reason for the spring holiday. To wrap up, a free movie, Lion of Judah, will begin at 7 p.m. Organizers encourage attendees to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to make it a comfortable viewing. Concessions will also be available for snakish viewers during the showing.
Saturday, March 30, Winona will host an Easter Egg Hunt as well as all-day events including face painting, games, food, bouncy houses, cotton candy, music, and more. The event is organized by BFA Empowered by Faith and sponsored by local businesses (Delta Bean, Dixie Roofing - White City, DJ Tim Tim, Pizza Inn, Harris Lawn & Property, Telly Mae’s Snowcone, and JA’s Rental – Bennett Funeral Home).
The Town of Duck Hill will host their Easter Event on Easter Sunday, March 31, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Duck Hill Community Center (Old Gym) at 312 Main St. in Duck Hill. Starting at 1 p.m. face painting and games will be available. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a Modeling Show. The final event of the day will be the Egg Hunt, starting at 2:30 p.m. and lasting until 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by BFA Empowered by Faith and the Duck Hill Male Club.
The weekend is packed with events all over to keep kids entertained and engaged in the community, with many opportunities for parents to create lasting family memories. In addition to these events, churches all over the surrounding counties will have their own events from egg hunts to Good Friday Services to Spring Revivals, so make sure to check the church calendar so you don’t miss out.
