Uh, Oh!
I wasn’t ready!
I had blood dripping everywhere from my finger and couldn’t find anything I needed to put on it!
The kitchen is often the scene of the crime, or accident, around here!
I have to have antibiotic cream and band-aids handy. If I don’t, I have a bloody mess when I accidentally cut, peel, or burn myself.
When you are busy outside, or have children playing outside all day, or have teens on adventures around the place, you have to be ready for whatever may happen in the summertime. And summertime is definitely on the way.
We have a first aid kit and a place where we keep medicines, creams, bandages, and other items to help take care of accidents and injuries that happen with gardening, taking care of animals, fishing, and working around the yard or house.
As we get older and travel, our being prepared kit has more and more items in it! I remember when I could take my purse and a little bitty bag and go off for a week.
When our sons went off to college, I prepared supplies for if they got sick or hurt and needed meds or bandages. We gathered supplies for note taking, organizing, and reminding themselves of responsibilities they had and assignments. We wanted them to be prepared.
My mama had a “stricken in the night” bag! She said if she got sick in the night and needed to call the ambulance, or go to the ER herself, she would grab her bag and go.
Kinda like a spy and his “bug out” bag, I guess.
I keep my pantry stocked (especially after COVID) so if there is a weather related or some other disaster we will have enough groceries, candles, flashlights, water, and emergency supplies for a while til things calm down or clear up.
The Bible tells us to be prepared, too.
The Message Bible says in Ephesians 6:13-18: “Be prepared. you’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get; every weapon God has issued. So that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.”
As Christians, we are to be prepared to do battle against evil with strong faith, courage, and a readiness to defend our faith.
But first we need to have faith in Christ and His sacrifice, have Jesus as our Lord and Savior, have repented, turned our lives over to God, follow Him, and be prepared to meet God.
Acts 16:31: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. . . “
Are you ready to stand before Him?
A spiritual band aid of good works alone won’t help!
