Funeral services for Edna Shackael Montague of Winona were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael. The Rev. Rupert Ingram and the Rev. David Rogers officiated the services. Pallbearers were Michael Jefcoat, Matthew Jefcoat, Brett Moorman, Kenny Downs, Kendall Downs, and Mike Jefcoat. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Kendrick, Charlie Holeman, George Frank Carwile, and Tommy Fisackerly.
Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.
Edna Shackael Montague, 93, passed away on Jan. 25, 2025, at Vaiden Community Living Center in Vaiden. She was born to Paige and Melvin Lee Montgomery Shackael on June 28, 1931. She was a retired sales manager of Fred's Department Store in Winona and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church near Kilmichael.
She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Jefcoat of Greenwood; and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Glynn Montague; two sisters, Annie Paige Shackael and Jean Britt; and brother, Buddy Shackael.
