Doris Faye Long, 69, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, in Carrollton surrounded by her family. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at Carrollton Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Longview Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Doris was born in Charleston, raised in Greenwood, and graduated from Greenwood High School. She worked for the Greenwood Public Schools as a secretary for over 40 years, retiring in 2011. After retirement she worked for North New Summitt Schools. She was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church, L.L.L.senior adult group and was very active in Sunday school. Doris loved to travel, cook, play dominos and spend time with family and friends.
The widow of Willis Long, Doris is survived by two sons, Mitchell Long (Marielle) of Brandon, Dustin Long (Tasha) of Carrollton; two sisters, Wilma Staples of Greenwood, Kaye French of Amory and eight grandchildren, Sara Aden Long, Kaden Hollingsworth, Magie Brooke Long, Caden Long, Joshua Long, Maddi Vanlandingham, Joseph Long and John Long.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Staples, Adam Staples, Michael French, Trinity Long, James Chandler and Patrick Yeoman. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Long, James “Pookie” Yeoman and Drew Long.
