Authorities in Kosciusko are intensifying efforts to locate a suspect involved in a brazen break-in at Pickle's Drug Store early Saturday morning. The suspect, who remains at large, had and altercation with law enforcement officers, leaving one officer injured before fleeing the scene.
The incident, which unfolded at around 5 am local time, had the perpetrator shatter the storefront's glass door to gain entry. Kosciusko Police Department (KPD) officers responded promptly, arriving as the suspect emerged from the establishment. A confrontation ensued between the suspect and officers, culminating in the suspect evading arrest and fleeing to his awaiting vehicle.
As he was escaping, the suspect struck one officer with his vehicle before speeding away. Despite a pursuit by law enforcement along Highway 12, the suspect eluded capture. The injured officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
Authorities have issued a "Be on the Lookout" (BOLO) alert for a black BMW bearing a Cannon dealership tag, believed to be the suspect's vehicle. Kosciusko Police have appealed to the public for any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect or the vehicle involved. Additionally, the department has released images captured during the incident, including photographs of the suspect and the vehicle, in the hope of soliciting assistance from the community.
